A report on the Post-graduate Training Course in    Classical Homoeopathy: Ireland

By Gillian Wray, I. S. Hom. (gwray@eircom.net)

After nearly four years qualified, my practice is beginning to flow nicely, I have my I. S. Hom. certificate hanging on the wall. I was feeling a bit rusty, the brain cells needed to be revitalized it was time to think about doing a post graduate course. But which one was the question. Then I received literature about Dr. Rajesh Shah from Mumbai, India. Some of my friends had heard him at a seminar in Sligo, I had been told that he was very good, that I would enjoy his style, very exact, logical, classical and Hahnemannian to the core. So off I went and enlisted for this course to recharge the batteries so to speak.

What did I find- What did I expect:
I found a young man of very high standards who lives and breathes homoeopathy. This is the only way I can describe Rajesh Shah. On the first morning he outlined the topics and sequence of the course, some items seemed a bit mundane and repetitive of what as homoeopaths we would or should already know. But instead it was an insight into our work, how we go about our case taking, at what stage to ask particular questions and how not to delve too much into the patients emotional state during the interview when it is not necessary or relevant to that particular case.

We were split up into small groups and took numerous live cases in accordance to a formula for case taking which Rajesh has given to us, in doing our cases and listening as others also took a case, we easily found the pitfalls we can all fall into , for example getting too emotionally involved in the patients story. (Anyone who has found themselves wanting to cry will know exactly what I mean).

We also covered Repertory work and Materia Medica , which gave an incentive to study both on an ongoing basis.
